The only Guitar Hero that's playable on PS4 is Guitar Hero Live and that does not support older controllers because it requires the 6 fret controllers that were made specifically for that game. The only issues are: • Part of the score is invisible on GH1. • The crowd on GH3 are but glitchy sprites depending on which renderer you choose for your GS plugin. • Latency: early PS2 games had no audio calibration (and no updates in the case of GH3 and I believe 2 as well), so you just have to deal with latency. This is what I did recently and my guitar I purchased on eBay came in today. Works on the Apple TV 4K, but not on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The touch panels don’t work as expected. Edit: I have not tried the guitar/iPhone combo yet. I just know the app doesn’t work on its own without the guitar on iPhone. It is enjoyable on the Apple TV though. All the PS3 Rock Band guitars* and drums work in all the PS3 Rock Band games, and also in RB4 on PS4 and PS5. There is no native interoperability between console families, so Xbox controllers won't work on PS4 or vice versa.
Wii dongles will not work with PlayStation instruments, and vice-versa. Here's a page with some info on how to tell the dongles apart . All the PS3 Rock Band guitars* and drums work in all the PS3 Rock Band games, and also in RB4 on PS4 and PS5. *Except for the Mustang Pro guitar, which only works in RB3.
The ps5 is only backwards compatible with ps4 and certain ps1/2 games that were downloadable only on ps4. PS5 only plays PS4 & PS5 disc. I never lost the hope! Not only Guitar Hero but no single PS3 game works on the PS5. Google is always your friend.
