By Hard freezing/crashing, I mean having to turn off the PS5 by Holding down the Power-Button for 10 seconds or so. The System then always has to rebuild the database on next startup. I stopped trying anything for now, because I feared bricking my PS5. I already posted a lengthy report on the official forums, without replies for now.

I have the same issue, reinstalled it 3 times already. Rebuilt database, signed in and out etc. First it crashes in the menu after a couple of minutes and then it crashes on start. I also barely see any information on this, wouls be nice to get some offixial statement on this.
It’s just a lazy rushed non optimized console game. It’s the most expensive life is strange while being the most bland one as well. If you hate backtracking this game is not for you. It’s all a ruse to make things feel like a fleshed out game but they take a lot of shortcuts that make things feel extremely repetitive.

Correct, you get the full game all at once. There is a DLC that is out on the 30th of September, but it's a prequel to the main game. There is also a remaster version of Life is Strange 1 + Before the Storm that is out in early 2022 that you get with the Ultimate Edition, but those are separate remastered games.
